Also known as “The Capital of Silicon Valley”, San Joseis the 3rd largest city in California and the 10th largest city in the USA. The city is located in the center of the Santa Clara Valley, on the southern shore of San Francisco Bay. San Jose is a global city, known across the world as an epicenter of innovation and a high cost of living. The city’s mild and pleasant climates along with an excellent public safety record make it a highly coveted attraction.
San Jose was inhabited by the Tamien nation of the Ohlone peoples of California before the arrival of the Spanish. Jose Joaquín Moraga discovered El Pueblo de San José de Guadalupe in 1777 at the crossway of the current locations of West Taylor Street and Guadalupe Parkway.In 1797, the town shifted to Plaza Pueblo and that was when San Jose emerged around this town. Located in the midst of Silicon Valley, San Jose houses the headquarters of the crème de la crème of tech companies such as Adobe, Cisco, Google, Yahoo, HP to name a few.
Downtown San Jose, West San Jose, North San Jose, and South San Jose are the major divisions of the city. It also embraces a host of other popular communities like Japantown, Rose Garden, Willow Glen, Alviso, East Foothills, Alum Rock, Little Portugal, Blossom Valley, many more. Each one of these communities overflows with its own unique characteristics.
